New Naval Vice Patron
18th April 2019
After attending his first AGM as Naval Vice Patron in 2004, Rear Admiral Sir Jeremy de Halpert KCVO CB decided to step down at the end of the 2019 AGM at Windsor. Sir Jeremy was a stalwart supporter of the League attending numerous events. As President I relied on his wise council and help in regard to moving the League onto a charitable status and in particular, when we grappled with the decision whether or not to open up the League to recipients of Level 3 awards. Time has shown that we made the correct decision in doing so.
Sir Jeremy was presented with a Mont Blanc pen, engraved, ‘Sir Jeremy’ which I hope will remind him of his time as one of our Vice Patrons. His final act was to recruit and introduce his successor, Rear Admiral Simon Williams CB CVO who was present at the AGM. Simon has recently retired from the Royal Navy and one of his final appointments was as Defence Services Secretary so he will have much to advise on the policy relating to honours and awards. We look forward to working with him and are delighted that he and his wife Charlie are attending the Edinburgh Muster.
