Annual Service of Remembrance and Lunch – 14 November 2021
10th July 2021
The Royal British Legion has confirmed that the annual service of remembrance will go ahead this year although the social distancing measures that will apply on the day, if any, are not yet known. The League has been allocated 42 tickets for this year parade, so our long standing efforts to increase our marching contingent have been accepted. As always, I am keen that we fill these slots in order to represent all members of the League, past and present.
If you wish to attend this parade, simply forward your name to the Secretary by the end of July. If there are more than 42 members, we will draw the names to participate, as outlined in the Constitution, with priority to Life Members. I am particuarly keen for first timers to join us as it is a remarkable event and one full of emotion and pride. Of course there will be the usual security arrangements to comply with, this requires all participants to provide name, address and date of birth for security clearance. Sally will coordinate the security arrangements with the RBL and apply for all tickets on members behalf.
Afterwards, the League will hold its usual post parade lunch at the RAF Club and all members are welcome to attend with their guests. You do not need to have participated in the parade to attend this lunch. Menus will be sent out to those wishing to attend the lunch, so send your name to Sally if you just want to attend the lunch.
